The 72nd birthday of Satguru Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma) was celebrated with grandeur and devotion at Amritapuri, featuring spiritual programs, cultural events, and prayers for world peace.
In her birthday message, Amma said that a person’s real birthday is the day when new habits are born—habits that nurture personal growth and also benefit society.
“There are more people in the world who suffer than those who rejoice. For me, celebration means consoling them, wiping their tears, and standing by them as a support,” Amma expressed.
She highlighted the importance of value-based education, stressing that knowledge must go hand in hand with responsibility towards society, the nation, the world, and nature. Serving the sorrowful, Amma reminded, is true worship of God, and she prayed that the spirit of sacrifice awaken in everyone.
Calling for compassion and unity, Amma urged humanity to let “the light of love and selflessness dispel the darkness of selfishness, hatred, and conflict. May goodness blossom as a beautiful new sunrise. May peace and happiness prevail everywhere.”
The day was graced by a satsang by Amma, guiding devotees with her wisdom and motherly care, reminding all of the values of love, peace, and spiritual awakening. The celebrations reached a crescendo with Amma’s soulful bhajans, where thousands joined their voices together, transforming the atmosphere into one of divine joy and oneness.
