Prof. V. Madhusoodanan Nair to Receive the Prestigious Amritakeerti Puraskar

Kollam: Renowned poet and scholar, Prof. V. Madhusoodanan Nair, has been selected as the recipient of the prestigious Amritakeerti Puraskar, presented by the Mata Amritanandamayi Math.  

 

The award comprises a cash prize of 1,23,456, a sculpture of Goddess Saraswathi crafted by the celebrated artist Namboothiri, and a certificate.  

 

Prof. Nair, who has previously received numerous accolades including the Sahitya Akademi Award and Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award, served as Professor and Head of the Malayalam Department at St. Xavier’s College, Thiruvananthapuram. 

 

In addition to his academic achievements, Prof. Nair has played key roles in various esteemed organizations, serving as a member of the Kendra Sahitya Akademi Advisory Committee, the governing body of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi, and as Chairman of the Kumaran Asan National Cultural Institute. 

 

Swami Turiyamritananda Puri, trustee of the Mata Amritanandamayi Math, remarked, ” This recognition honors his exceptional contribution to literature, especially his work in blending Vedic philosophical ideas with modern imagery and symbols in an elegant writing style.”  

 

The Amritakeerti Puraskar will be presented to Prof. Nair on September 27, 2024, during a ceremony at the Amritapuri Ashram, Kollam, commemorating the 71st birthday of Mata Amritanandamayi Devi. Since its inception in 2001, the award has recognized distinguished individuals across spiritual, cultural, and scriptural fields. 

 

The award committee, chaired by Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri, included members Dr. K.S. Radhakrishnan, Dr. Lakshmi Kumari, Sri P. Narayana Kurup, and Swami Turiyamritananda Puri.
