Supporting the Cultures of the World
Amritavarsham50 was, in many, ways a celebration of unity, while at the same time accepting the fact of diversity. Representatives of 193 countries participated in the historic event, all drawn together by their love and gratitude for Amma and the change She had brought about in their lives.
Each day cultural performances from around the around
the world took place on the sides of the stage while
Amma gave darshan--a Rajasthani man dancing with seven
pots balanced on his heads was followed by rock music
from America, Spanish flamenco music contrasted with
the dances of aboriginals from Australia. Irish clog-dancing
juxtaposed with the Chinese Lion Dance.
India's culture, Sanatana Dharma, or the culture of
God Realisation, was at the heart of Amritavarsham50.
As Amma says, "Real celebration is with samskara [culture].
Without samskara, it is just a mere animalistic display." And
throughout Amritavarsham50, there where many
events and activities aimed at supporting and nurturing
Sanatana Dharma as well. |

An art gallery of paintings inspired by Amma was
just one of the many cultural events that took place
during Amritavarsham50. |

The Ashram inaugurated a cultural-based television channel, awarded cash prizes to winners of an all-India essay competition, displayed an art gallery of paintings inspired by Amma, released seven new spiritual books and awarded significant sums of money to two men who've dedicating their lives to the promotion and furthering of Santana Dharma.
